ISS Facility Services
In collaboration with House of Hospitality and ROC Amsterdam, ISS offers on-the-job training to give young talents practical experience with facilities services. Students receive training at an international leading ISS client on the Zuidas in Amsterdam. At this client, ISS is responsible for facilities services and the hospitality experience.
An organization is like a hotel. The employees are our long-staying guests, visitors are short-staying guests. Everything revolves around the guest, just as in a hotel. The only difference is that our guests don't stay overnight.
ISS Nederland is an international organization in facilities services. ISS operates in more than 30 countries and has more than 350,000 employees worldwide. The Netherlands headquarters is located in De Meern, Utrecht.
Students follow the Facility Management – On the Job programme at one of ISS's client locations. These locations are based on the Zuidas in Amsterdam. During their training, students gain experience with various aspects of Facility Management:
- Service desk
- Reception
- Catering
- Barista
- Events host
- Technical maintenance
What does On the Job training look like?
The programme lasts 3 years in total. In the first year, students work across different facilities departments. Every 20 weeks they rotate to a different department. In the second year, students complete an internship either in the Netherlands or abroad at another organization. In the last 10 weeks of the second year, they return and learn about management responsibilities. In year 3, students can choose which facilities service they want to lead. Students spend 3 days per week managing this service and use the other 2 days to develop an operational plan for their department.
What do students do after the Facility Management – On the Job programme?
After graduation, students can start working immediately! They begin working in the facilities service of their choice. Think of roles like service desk officer or barista. Prefer to continue studying? That's possible too. After this programme, students can progress to higher education (HBO).
