From a Practical Challenge to 19 Trained Workplace Coaches
From a shared challenge to a practical solution. Working together to strengthen guidance and support in the workplace. How can young talent be effectively supported in a dynamic hospitality environment? This was the central question behind the collaboration between DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station and ROC van Amsterdam-Flevoland.

The partnership gives students a valuable opportunity to learn through hands-on experience. At the same time, supporting students in the workplace requires a great deal from managers and colleagues. Insights from day-to-day practice and quality research highlighted a need for additional knowledge and practical tools to help workplace coaches better support students in their development.
Expertise from the community
The practical challenge was connected to expertise already available within the network. In collaboration with LEcademy, the professional development platform of ROC van Amsterdam-Flevoland, an interactive training programme was organised for DoubleTree's workplace coaches.
Across two training sessions, 19 workplace coaches explored topics including different generations, the student brain, and recognising and breaking habitual patterns. Alongside new insights, the sessions provided plenty of opportunity to discuss real-life situations and put new approaches into practice.
A tangible result of collaboration
The training demonstrates what collaboration within a community can achieve. A practical challenge was identified, the right expertise was brought in, and together this was translated into a solution that could be applied directly in the workplace.
The result: 19 workplace coaches equipped with new knowledge and practical tools to better understand and support students.
This is precisely where the strength of the House of Hospitality Community lies. Partners do not have to solve every challenge on their own. By actively connecting with one another and drawing on the knowledge and expertise already present within the network, practical solutions emerge that contribute to the development of both people and organisations.
A practical challenge. Expertise from the network. A solution that makes an immediate difference.
